Schedule a SIP Call Test

To set up an ongoing schedule for SIP call tests, complete the following steps.

Caution: Scheduling a large number of simultaneous calls can strain the network. Proceed carefully.

1.  From the container dashboard, select Network Testing from the Network Tools menu.

The container must contain a probe that has been configured as a test agent. If you are uncertain as to which containers contain test agents, start from the top level container to view a list of all of the test agent probes. If there are no test agents displayed, then a probe must first be configured to be a test agent. See "Probe Settings Configuration".

2.  Click Create under the Test Plans section.

The Test Configuration page is displayed.

3.  Under Run Test, click the Scheduled option.

4.  Set the following options:

Test Visibility: Select a container name from the list. This determines the container where the test plan will be located and filters the list of test agents available for the network test to those in the selected container and sub-containers, as well as shared agents located upstream in the container hierarchy.

Name: Type a descriptive name for the schedule.

Frequency: Select a test frequency from the list. This indicates how often the test is run.

Run Frequency: If the test frequency is X Minutes, select from the list how often the test is run in minutes.

Minutes Past Hour: If the test frequency is Hourly, select, in intervals of 5 minutes, at how many minutes past the hour the test is run.

Time of Day: If the test frequency is Daily, select the time of day, in 30 minute intervals, when the test is run.

Starting Date: Type a start date to begin the test schedule in the format YYYY/MM/DD.

Expiry Date: Type an expiry date to end the test schedule in the format YYYY/MM/DD.

Test Type: Select SIP Call Test from the list.

Call Duration: Select the call length in seconds from the list.

Concurrent Calls: Select the number of concurrent calls to make during the test. Use caution when selecting a high number of concurrent calls. The higher the number of calls results in a higher load on your network.

Call Receiver: Select the test agent to use to receive the calls.

Alarms: (optional) Enable this option to send alarms for poor test results and set the severity level for the alarm.

5.  Select the test agent(s) to use and click Add to add them to the list of selected test agents. Use Shift + Click or Ctrl + Click to select more than one agent.

The agents available for selection include all agents in the container (this is the current container for on demand tests and the container selected in the Test Visibility option for scheduled tests) and sub-containers, as well as shared agents located upstream within the container hierarchy.

6.  Click Create to schedule the test.
