Import Thresholds

You can bulk import threshold values for a series of devices using a CSV (comma separated values) file. To do this, you must first determine which Probe is monitoring those devices.

WARNINGS:

We strongly recommend that you export the existing threshold values and save a copy as a backup before importing new or updated threshold values. See "Export Thresholds".

Importing thresholds deletes all existing threshold values for devices in the current container and replaces them with the threshold values in the CSV file. Any existing thresholds already defined on lower/child containers are unchanged and override threshold settings in the parent container.

Before you begin you need:

The appropriate privileges to import thresholds. See "User Permissions".

A properly formatted thresholds CSV file. See "Thresholds CSV File"

To import thresholds, complete the following steps:

1.  Determine which Probe is monitoring the devices you want to set thresholds for.

2.  Access the Probe’s container dashboard or the dashboard of a parent container. Select Thresholds under the System Administration menu.

The Global Thresholds window displays, showing a table of all parameters with thresholds for all device types. The table lists settings that apply to the current container and all its descendant containers only. It does not display settings inherited from parent or other ancestor containers.

3.  Click Import Thresholds.

4.  On the Import Thresholds dialog, click Choose File and navigate to and select the CSV file to upload.

5.  Click Upload CSV.

If there are errors encountered during import, the import process stops and displays an error message identifying the issue and no thresholds are modified. You must resolve the issue in the CSV file and import the file again. The thresholds are only updated once the CSV file is successfully imported.
